KICKING BUTTS - ASKING QUESTIONS LATER

For humanity to be accepted into the Confederation of alien races, they must pay the price and fight as soldiers and marines when the leading alien races that don't want to bother themselves with the messy parts. So when a new alien species has been discovered, it is up to a delegation of Confederation marines to give a show of force, as this new race and their planet are in a sector of space that the Confederation needs for their communication satellites. And who gets the bum job for this particular diplomatic mess? Staff Sergeant Torin Kerr and her platoon of mixed race marines and her new 2IC who just happens to be one hot di'Taykan. For the most part, the assignment is as cushy as baby sitting a bunch of lawyers and press but when their transport is shot down over no-man's land, Torin and her team of war weathered marines use all of their skills to ensure the survival of everyone on board.

I really LOVE military sci-fi and Valour's Choice did not disappoint. I have discovered in my reading career that I enjoy action and not so much the political pandering that sometimes gets authors hung up on. There was loads of action and fight scenes and danger and guns…. Yeah, Torin Kerr is one kick arse female whose loyalty and honour keeps her at the top of her game.

Entering the world of the story was a bit abrupt and I felt there could have been more emotion with certain character interactions, but otherwise I thoroughly enjoyed this first book in the series. I will definitely be reading more.
