A young woman wakes up in a forest with no memory of how she got there, why she is there or even her own name. Taken in and raised by a foster mother, it doesn't take long for her to find friends in this new life of hers. Everything seemed to be going fine until she meets the enigmatic Gabriel. Gorgeous, attentive, safe, Gabriel seems so familiar and seems to know so much about her, he's so wonderful, but it isn't until she spots his dark and brooding twin brother that Scarlet begins to realise everything isn't as it seems.

I loved Scarlet, loved her tenacity, her determination to keep going, keep finding out the truth, even when it seemed crazy. I loved how she was so kick arse as an archer but has no memory of ever learning how to even string a bow let alone hit a target 100 meters away. It was really exciting to find out how she learnt but we don't learn this until the second book.

Yes it is a love triangle romance with a spot of paranormal and loads of archery thrown in. But considering it was written a few years back, it isn't bad. This was my first love triangle story and I absolutely loved it. I remember being so caught up in the emotion of Scarlet having to understand what was going on with her heart, her love and devotion to both brothers and being so confused. Chelsea Fine wrote a great plot that uncovered little by little Scarlet's background and why she is where she is without any memory. As you continue reading, more questions are raised than answered and my love of the characters is what kept me wanting to find out more.

Definitely a great YA read, loads of twists in the series but no so much in this first book until the end. As you read the second book you begin to understand more and more of what is going on and the third wraps the whole thing up. It was written in a time when trilogies were becoming all the rage in YA for which I'm grateful for as the third book gets a little screwy with its fantasy. I'm kinda glad the author didn't decide to make a 10 book series out of it.

Love the first book 4.5 out of 5 stars, the series is let down by the last book – 3 stars for the series.
