Once there, she finds herself surrounded by students with their own set of powerful god given skills, except all of them are way more powerful than Gwen's gypsy-girl magic and living and schooling with Valkyries, Amazons, Vikings, Spartans takes learning to a whole new level.
Then one of the more beautiful but mean girl dies and magical artefacts are being stolen from the Library of Antiquities and Gwen finds herself at the heart of an investigation that involves loads of bad things, scary gargoyle statues and the school's hottest but deadliest Spartan guys. All she really wants to do is get through the school year without getting caught seeking off campus to visit her Grandma for some warm double chocolate chip cookies straight from the oven.
Yeah, that's so not gonna happen.
I loved Gwen, she really was a breath of fresh paranormal air. She might be the lowest of the less powerful students in the school's pantheon but she didn't let anything get to her. She made friends in unlikely people and critters and found something in herself that she didn't ever imagine she'd ever find. One very smart, Valkyrie-butt kicking cookie!
I read my way through the whole series as fast as I could as I enjoyed spending time with Gwen and her crazy friends. Love the book, 4 stars out of 5 for this great teen read.
